With dual-core tubes, optimum core recovery in brittle to hard formations at not too great depths is decisive.
The inner tube is connected to the core tube head by ball bearings. It therefore does not rotate during drilling. The core is therefore preserved and not spoilt.
Water / air flushing takes place between lip widths (different process for core extraction): Types T and D thin lipping (greater drilling progress with low pressure) /K3 thick lipping (14 – 18 mm with large flushing channel, high pressure).
Core catching is principally like with a single-core tube except that here the core catcher sits in a sleeve which is inserted into the inner tube.
